IBM & Union College Global Summer Internships

There are three options for the IBM Global Summer Internships.  For eight weeks in the summer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate on research at the IBM Research laboratories in Beijing, China, Bangalore or New Delhi, India or in Zurich, Switzerland.  The internship covers the cost of your round trip flight, housing while overseas, and a stipend. No academic credit is offered for this program.  The qualifications IBM is looking for include:
  • Excellent grade-point average (Minimum of 3.0 to apply)
  • Students who are first years, sophomores and juniors (preference given to juniors)
  • Prior research experiences required
  • Creativity
  • Strong command of English language
  • Initiative, self-starter
  • Communication skills
  • Commitment
  • Distinctive team spirit
  • International orientation
Students may apply through the Office of Undergradute Research.

Prior to applying to IBM, the applicants selected at Union will be screened by International Programs to ensure they:

  • Have an overall cumulative average of 3.0
  • Have less than five disciplinary points as verified by the Dean of Students
  • Have a clear account balance, as verified by the Financial Services Office
  • Be in good academic standing, as verified by the Dean of Studies

Maintenance of Eligibility after Acceptance to an IBM Internship:

  • Maintain an overall cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 up to the date of departure for the program
  • Successfully complete at least two courses at Union College the term prior to the study abroad program
  • Shortly prior to departure, all participant names will be reviewed again to determine that students:
    • Have a clear account balance, as verified by the Financial Services Office
    • Have less than five disciplinary points, as verified by the Dean of Students
    • Are in good academic standing, as verified by the Dean of Studies
