Diversity of the Adirondacks - Summer Break Mini-Term

Program Description:
Students will take a course that will consist of various subjects around the theme of diversity and within interdisciplinary fields such as, arts and literature, biology, ecology, economic issues, history, religious studies, and sociology. Community learning will include trips to the Adirondack Museum, the Wild Center, the Adirondack Ecological Center, and the Lake George area.  While in the Adirondacks students will work as a team in the local community, engaging in a service project, as well as have an opportunity to experience the variety of outdoor recreational opportunities available to them in the Adirondacks. During the mini-term, students will be required to keep daily journals, give an oral presentation and complete a final term paper.


No experience is needed.


All students will stay at a lodge in the Adirondack Mountains.

  • January: Application deadline is the third Friday of spring term
  • February: Non-refundable deposit due at the Cashier's Office in McKean House, and receipt brought to the International Programs Office
  • Spring term: Orientation meetings
  • June: Mini-term begins
  • Early July : Program ends
