Admissions Deadlines

Union's calendar is composed of terms, also known as trimesters, which are three ten-week periods during each academic year - one from September to November, one from January to March, and one from April to June. Although you may not be an undergraduate student, you must apply and complete the Language Assistant application, as your visa document will be prepared using this information so it must match your passport information exactly.

The J-1 student visa is the appropriate visa for students on a short-term exchange program.  Upon receipt of the documents requested below, Union College will send you a DS-2019, the document you will need to take to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your home country in order to obtain a J-1 student visa.  If you are a Language Assistant on a Fulbright Scholarship, your DS-2019 will be provided by IIE, but we still need you to complete the forms indicated below so that we can register you as a Union College student.  If you will be in the U.S. prior to your exchange program, notify your exchange coordinator in advance.

Once students have been entered into the online application system, they will be expected to submit the following to the International Programs Office by the application deadline of Friday, March 17, 2017, in order to process the DS-2019, which is due to rigorous U.S. regulations regarding international students:
