Admissions Deadlines

Application for Exchange (Union's calendar is composed of terms, also known as trimesters, which are three ten-week periods during each academic year - one from September to November, one from January to March, and one from April to June). Although you may not be an undergraduate student, you must complete this form, and as your visa document will be prepared using this information, it must match your passport information exactly.

The J-1 student visa is the appropriate visa for students on a short-term exchange program.  Upon receipt of the documents requested below, Union College will send you a DS-2019, the document you will need to take to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your home country in order to obtain a J-1 student visa.  If you will be in the U.S. prior to your exchange program, notify your exchange coordinator in advance.

Exchange students must be nominated by their home institution in order to access the online application through the International Programs Office.

Due to rigorous U.S. regulations governing the processing of DS-2019s for international students and in order produce the DS-2019 in a timely fashion, once students have been entered into the online application system, they will be expected to submit the following to the International Programs Office by the application deadline of Friday, March 17, 2017:

  • Exchange Student Application
  • Financial Information
  • English Language Proficiency Score - for more information on tests and scores, visit the Admissions page for international students
